You’ve just got your new website designed and ready to go, but have you been through the must have checklist? Take a quick read below to ensure that your site ticks all the boxes necessary to reach success. Thanks to Dubai Masters we can see a handy breakdown.
Ideally the first thing your customer should see is your branding and your logo. Your branding should be apparent as soon as the customer visits your page, ideally by the logo (which is typically in the top left corner). The whole website should follow your brand guidelines. All the colours must follow a theme, you should have one consistent typeface throughout. As well as colours and fonts, your images should reflect your brand aims.
2. Mobile Responsiveness
One feature we always stand by is ensuring that all of our client’s websites must be fully Responsive. Having a responsive website helps those customers who are visiting on a tablet or mobile device to browse easily and smoothly.
Any images on your site must be high quality, having low quality blurry, pixelated or amateur images can leave a bad impression on your customer. If you’re a professional company, you should find images that match that, when choosing our images for our site we made sure to represent professionalism, creative and modern images to represent our brand. If you want your images to hold a more realistic and honest approach it is a good idea to hire a professional photographer and get them to capture your business office life, busy work load or your team physically at work.
4. Clear navigation
Having a clear and simple site map navigation really helps the customer find what they are after quickly and efficiently. No one wants to be clicking endless pages trying to find what they’re looking for. Try highlighting the common services and questions that your customers are looking for by creating a link on the home page or relating page.
This is a number one rule for any website. Make sure your contact info is on on your homepage or just one click away. If you want to keep your site clean, place your contact info in the top right corner or in the footer. Our contact info is located at the top right hand corner and we also have the information present in more detail on our contact page.
6. Catchy Headlines
All headlines featured on your site must be catchy and inviting. It helps keep the customer interested and informed. Try to make your headlines appeal to the customer in a persuasive way to encourage leads. Write in a friendly tone that tells them simply what you do or what you’re offering.
7. Important Info before you scroll
I’m referring to the first information you are presented with on every page before you scroll down. This information and the way the first half of the page is presented is important for answering or clarifying any queries the customer may have. Even if it is an image there should be a one liner at least on top of it.
Be sure to fill your site with content that is useful to the customer. This could be your blog, social media channels, videos etc. They provide interesting visuals for your site.
9. Calls to Action
Probably one of the most important feature you MUST have on your website is your calls to Action. These are the actions you want people to take for example, “Sign up to our newsletter”. Be sure to use catchy words and eye catching graphics that help them to stand out to ensure people will click on them.
Always make sure your site holds any awards, accreditation and reviews you may have to help show the customers that you are trustworthy and good to do business with.
We hope this checklist helps you to indicate what you need to improve or add to your site if you’ve not got them all already. Got a number one feature for your start up site that wasn’t listed above? Let us know in the comments below.
